Drum & Dance Jam - Saturday 7 June 2008 2-5PM - IN ALBANY!
The next Drum & Dance Jam will be held in the More FM Tennis Park off Oteha Valley Road in Albany, on Saturday 7 June between 2-5PM.

The Tennis Park is easy to find, simply take the Oteha Valley Road exit from the Northern Motorway, head towards Albany township, and you will see the large More FM Tennis Park complex on the right, before the lights. Location map is
here. There is plenty of free parking in the Tennis Park grounds.

As usual the Jam entry fee is $5 per person (eftpos preferred), and vendors are invited to hire a table to display their goods for sale - please contact me for more information.

The idea behind this 'Jam' is for Middle Eastern styled drummers and dancers of all levels to come together to create music and dance. Performance pieces are welcome by prior arrangement. You are encouraged to attend in costume, but it is not compulsory. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) will be available all afternoon.

Some students from my recently completed Solo Development class will be performing their solos for the first time in front of an audience, so supporters will be most welcome.

I look forward to dancing with you then!

Drum & Dance Jam - the day the lights went out!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the weekend festivities for World Belly Dance Day! The Drum and Dance Jam was great fun as usual, in spite of the power company deciding at relatively short notice to cut the power to the venue for maintenance work!

Fortunately the day was not particularly cold or wet, so we danced by battery power in natural light, and the luminescence from the drummers fingers (sorry you had to have been there!) Jewellery, henna, costumes, coin belts, CD's, and bindi's were all on display and were enjoyed, paid for and taken home by many. Lots of chocolate biscuits were consumed, and great fun was had by the many who joined in.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this event, it just gets better each time! The next 'Jam' will be in Albany on 7 June so mark your diaries off now.

The idea behind this 'Jam' is for tabla & frame drummers and tribal and cabaret dancers from the greater Auckland area and beyond, to be able to get together to create music and dance. Performance pieces are welcome by prior arrangement. You are encouraged to attend in costume, but it is not compulsory. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) will be available all afternoon. Parking is available under the library or in surrounding streets.

In addition to spending an enjoyable afternoon dancing and drumming, you will also have the opportunity to browse and purchase belly dance items for sale from several Auckland vendors - costumes, belts, music, jewellery etc. so remember to bring some extra cash with you!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
Term 2 2008 - Let the dancing begin!
Welcome back to all of my students for Term 2! We have some wonderful new choreographies to learn this term, many students have moved up a level, so congratulations to you, I hope you enjoy the challenge!

Registrations are still open for most classes, although some classes are almost full, so
register now to secure your place.

The next Solo Development class will start on Wednesday 4 June, so if you are currently in Level 2 or above, and would like to take the next step of creating your own solo, enrol now and lets do it together!

The first of the Saturday morning Open Level classes will start this week, so as the weather turns cold, and the kids head off to their winter sports, catch an early morning dance class to get you energised for the rest of the weekend!

The monthly Drum & Dance Jam is on again this Saturday in Takapuna, behind the Library, between 2-5pm. Tea and Coffee will be provided, $5 per person, come in costume and dance the afternoon of World Belly Dance day away!
