We will examine the various instruments used in music from the Middle East, their names, what they sound like, what they look like and how they are played, along with some suggestions on how a dancer could interpret their music.

Hands and arms can make or break a belly dance performance! Arms add expression, passion and purpose to your dance. We will look at some hand and arm drills to improve your control, build strength, and increase flexibility. Then apply this knowledge to some familiar foot and hip work.

Technique Class on Sat 9 June 2007 - Twists and combinations
Hip Twists are a basic movement in folkloric dance, particularly from North Africa, but this movement can be varied to create attractive variations and layers to your dance steps. We will be looking at controlling this hip movement for maximum impact, then applying variations to some fun combinations.
