Have you ever wondered how to structure a choreography, just where do you start, and how do you add interesting elements, so that the finished dance is entertaining and reflects the music?

In this class we will look at a piece of modern pop music, dissect its instruments and timing, then apply movements and accents.

Level is suitable for all students, particularly those interested in developing their own solos, or those seeking a better understanding of the nature of choreography.

We will look at the basics of this fun style of dancing from the Arabian Gulf, Dubai, UAE etc. Using Khaleeji Thobes, the dance movements are delicate and feminine, this party dance has its own rhythms and attitude.

The graceful and versatile Egyptian walk, once mastered, provides a whole new range of possibilities for your hip movements.

We will start at the basics, releasing and engaging the correct muscles to ensure you can control this hip work safely and with relative ease.

Signature Moves and Combinations from the Classic Egyptian Stars Workshop - Sat 15 September 2-4pm Takapuna Location
Stars like Naima Akef, Taheyya Karioka and Samya Gamal all had their own style and signature moves. We will deconstruct some specific moves and combos, look at what made them so special, and then adapt them so we can incorporate this styling into our own dance.
