Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday afternoon for some shopping. I know there were some bargains that were snapped up, and some very happy dancers went home with completely new costumes!

Technique class on Wed 28 Nov 2007 - Musical Instruments used in Arabic Music
Music from the Middle East uses some instruments you may not be familiar with. We will listen to the sounds of these instruments, discuss how they are played, and then look at their representation from a dancers perspective.

Come and find out just what is involved in belly dance costuming, 6m circle skirts, harem pants, fringing, sequins and beads, bras, belts, and coins. We will also be looking at tribal styles and the development of performance costume styles through history. All levels of dancers welcome.

Technique class on Sat 24 Nov 2007 - Communication and Projection
Whether you are dancing solo or in a group, your communication with your audience will either make or break your performance! We will look at some techniques to increase your communication whilst dancing and how to reach that member of the audience right at the back of the theatre.

Technique class on Wed 21 Nov 2007 - Focus on Jewels and Twists
Small intricate hip work, and lively, powerful twists can be great fun when incorporated into your dance. We will look at the techniques required to cleanly articulate these movements then incorporate them into some fun combos.

Technique class on Wed 14 Nov 2007 - Figure 8's and Circles
Two of the basic moves of belly dance, the Figure 8 and the circle, most frequently used on the hips, but are equally beautiful and expressive on other parts of the body. We will look at the basic technique, variations, and combinations for these movements.

Medance Christmas Party at Cafe Drina Sat 8 December 2007 from 7PM

Technique class on Sat 10 Nov 2007 - Veil
Veils are generally beautiful to watch. They draw the attention of your audience in a way that no other prop can, but skill is required to keep the veil in motion. We will go through some basic techniques and tricks to get you going, then develop some veil movements and combos that you can apply to you own dance.

Technique class on Wed 7 Nov 2007 - How to Choreograph to Classical Egyptian Music
Whilst the best belly dance is not choreographed, most improvisations will be to familiar music, therefore a loose choreography will be in the dancers mind when she goes out to perform. We will look at how to recognise the various parts of the music, relevant movements and how to plan your choreography to entertain your audience.
